Happy Resurrection Day! When we visit the DR, it is easy to become consumed with what we perceive to be the children's greatest needs: shelter, food, clothing, education. Yes these are important but what they need most is Jesus. He will bring them hope!
Pray this week for:
(1) Team Unity - we will have our next team meeting Sunday April 19
(2) Provision of children Spanish book sponsors. We launched today within the children's ministry of our church a way the kids can become engaged in missions. We have asked them to donate $5 for a book to be given to the Care Center. These books will be used by the teachers to help children learn to read. The ultimate goal is for each child to be able to read the Bible for themselves and be transformed by the living Word of God.
(3) Sponsors for Haitian teens to attend Young Life camp in the DR this summer. The photo below is Pastor Timothe Indrik. We came to know him in 2005. He sells handmade souvenirs to teams to help supplement his family's income. He is involved in many ministries; one is Young Life. This parachurch organization is how I became a christian as a college student. I am awaiting photos of his teens to make a poster for a YL fund raising golf tournament here in our city this coming Friday April 17. The local YL staff are willing to display a poster for Campership. Pray God will provide the photos quickly. A Kids Alive missionary is loaning a camera to Timothe today.
